KINGSTON, Jamaica – Christmas will be early for automotive enthusiasts as Xmas at Susie’s: Car vs Bike Edition is scheduled for Susie’s Bakery & Coffee Bar, Southdale Plaza in St Andrew, this evening.

“I’ve been seeing all these copycat CarSexy-type events across the island, so I added bikes to my formula in an attempt to do something new,” Steven ‘Supa Hype’ Davis, event promoter, told OBSERVER ONLINE.

Davis – best known in music circles as DJ/producer Supa Hype – blended party, dancehall and automotive culture for his CarSexy-branded events that ran successfully through 2012 and 2013. The event will also double as the collection point for Kingston-based car club Skunk Nation’s annual Christmas charity drive.

“I wanted to give back, and Skunk Nation didn’t have a venue, so I partnered with them,” Davis explained.

Skunk Nation will, in turn, provide the vehicular eye candy, while Davis has tapped local fashion designer and bike aficionado Romeich Major to supply all the latest from the biker world. Entertainment will be provided by special guest DJs with a performance from a major recording artiste.

“For our end, part proceeds from the gate will go into the Skunk Nation charity collection,” he said.

Nick Lue, one of the Skunk Nation founders, confirmed that his club would be using the event as a collection drive.

“We’re asking patrons to bring food, toys and toiletries. We’re also accepting monetary contributions,” Lue said.

Started in 2015, Skunk Nation hosted ITN Xmas Charity which used to raise much-needed money and supplies for Maxfield Children’s Home and the Mary’s Child programme for abandoned pregnant teens, both in Kingston.

“Our efforts are once again focused on these two institutions,” Lue explained.
