Shaw to outline property tax review next week
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Finance Minister Audley Shaw is expected to provide details on decisions and proposed adjustments to the new property tax rates in Parliament next week.
This afternoon’s disclosure from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information follows the conclusion of Cabinet deliberations on the property tax review after submission from a special property tax subcommittee.
The review committee was appointed on Monday amid concerns from property owners over the new tax rates, which became effective on Saturday, April 1.
As such, the debate on two property tax Bills, which was scheduled for the House of Representatives on Tuesday, was postponed to await the final Cabinet decision.
