KINGSTON, Jamaica — Alkaline, Popcaan, Protoje, Kranium, and Spice are the nominees in the Best Reggae Act category of the 2016 MOBO Awards.
The nominations were announced earlier today.
The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) recognises artistes of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music.
Billed as the "biggest celebration of urban talent" in various musical genres such as soul, reggae, hip hop, grime, and afrobeats, the 21st staging of the awards is scheduled to take place in Glasgow on November 4.
Spice's nomination signals the first time that a female artiste has been nominated in the Best Reggae Act category.
This is the second nomination for Protoje and Alkaline. It is the fifth for Popcaan. Popcaan won the award last year.
