St James man arrested for firearm possession

ST JAMES, Jamaica – A man was taken into custody following the seizure of  a 9mm Beretta pistol and eleven rounds of ammunition by police in Spring Mount, St James, yesterday.

The police are reporting that about 8:14 pm they were travelling along the Flamstead main road when a man who was driving a motorcycle, upon seeing the police, swerved in an attempt to evade them. He lost control of the motorcycle which ran off the road.

He was allegedly accosted and searched and the pistol, with a magazine containing eleven cartridges, was found in his possession.

The police did not identify the man.
