St James residents get land titles
JIS
Sunday, October 07, 2012
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Sixty land holders in St James, who previously had no titles for properties they occupied, received formal documents last Friday.
The presentations to the recipients from Retirement Phase I, Pitfour Phase III, and Meadowsvale, were made by junior housing minister Dr Morais Guy during a ceremony at the Granville All Age School in St James.
Dr Guy said that the Government was cognisant of the opportunities for personal and community development which the titles presented. As such, he said the administration had moved to facilitate timely preparation of the documents.
The Minister, however, urged the beneficiaries to exercise diligence in the management and utilisation of the titles, and ensure that they redound to their families’ benefit.
“You have given us a responsibility, as Government, and I am giving you a responsibility with the issuance of this title; and to say to you, utilise it in the best interest of yourself and your family,” Dr Guy emphasised.
