KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC) – Netball authorities are set to begin their search for a new head coach next year after Minneth Reynolds opted not to seek a renewal of her contract.

The veteran official wrote to Netball Jamaica to indicate her unwillingness to continue in the role, following the Sunshine Girls’ 2-1 victory over England in a three-Test series which concluded earlier this month.

“I am surprised that she would have made the decision not to seek to renew her contract after the team just won a series abroad,” Netball Jamaica director, Wayne Lewis, said.

We have accepted the fact that her contract has expired and we do not have a coach right now.”

He added: “Our next board meeting is due early in the New Year, and at that time, we will start the process of selecting a new coach.”

Reynolds took over from Oberon Pitterson-Nattie two years ago and has since presided over a series of mixed results.

Jamaica finished fourth at the 2015 World Cup in Sydney after losing to Australia in the semi-finals and then falling to England in the third place playoff.

Lewis said, however, that Reynolds’ decision not to continue was inconsequential as her contract had run out on November 30.

He did not say if Netball Jamaica had intended to renew Reynolds’ contract.
