Taxi operator nabbed with cocaine on Washington Boulevard
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A taxi operator was on Sunday arrested and charged in connection with the seizure of more than a kilogram of cocaine.
He is 36-year-old Mardo Clarke of Spaulding Boulevard, Kingston 20.
Reports from the police’s Corporate Communications Unit are that about 11:00 am, the motor vehicle Clarke was driving was intercepted by a police team on Washington Boulevard, Kingston 20.
The police say during a search of the vehicle, a rectangular parcel with cocaine weighing 1.2 kilograms was found. The drug reportedly has an estimated street value of J$1.3 million.
He was subsequently charged with illegal possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and trafficking cocaine.
Clarke is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew parish court on Friday, August 5.
