Tornadoes on course to retain swim trophy
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Tornadoes Swim Club are on the verge of defending their title at the Walter Rogers National Age-Group Swimming Championships at the National Aquatics Centre.
At the end of Friday’s third day, Tornadoes led the standings with 902.5 points, ahead of Y- Speedos Swim Club with 686 points and Blue Seal Swim with 204.5 points. Swimaz Aquatic Swim Club (157) and Marlins Swim Club (116) complete the top five.
The five-day meet has hit top gear with four record-breaking performances registered so far, from Panamanian swimmer Ireyra Tamayo and young sensation Christanya Shirley with two apiece.
The five-day meet, which began on Tuesday and also serves as a qualifier for the 30th Carifta Swimming Championships will continue at 5:30 pm on Saturday.
