Traffic changes along Mandela Highway

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Effective Thursday, January 7, there will be new traffic arrangements to access Caymanas Bay and Caymanas Golf & Country Club, located off the Mandela Highway in St Catherine.

A news release from the National Works Agency (NWA) today said that traffic signals at the existing location of the Caymanas Bay access road will be taken out of service and the existing access road will be permanently closed.

The release added that new traffic signals installed along the Mandela Highway, between the Portmore Crossing and the original Caymanas Bay access road will be brought into service, allowing persons to access Caymanas Bay and Caymanas Golf & Country Club safely.

According to the NWA, traffic changes will involve the following:

• Motorists travelling along the Mandela Highway will proceed in the normal way, except that the traffic signal at the original Caymanas Bay location has been relocated.

• Motorists travelling from the direction of Kingston or Portmore and wishing to access Caymanas Bay or the Caymanas Golf & Country Club area should travel west, from the Portmore intersection, then turn right at the new traffic signal controlled intersection, continue under the two overpasses to Caymanas Bay/Caymanas Golf & Country Club areas.

• Motorists travelling from the direction of Caymanas Bay/Caymanas Golf & Country Club area and travelling towards Kingston or Portmore will travel left along the detour road, under the two overpasses to the new traffic signal controlled intersection and continue left along the Mandela Highway
