Transport Authority clears road licence applications backlog
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Transport Authority yesterday announced that the backlog of new road licence applications, which had accumulated since February 15, 2016, has been cleared.
Road licence applications that were received in April, 2016 are now being processed.
The new Licensing Committee of the Transport Authority board was named on April 26, 2016. Since then, the Transport Authority said the Committee has convened three meetings and considered 488 new road licence applications for various categories of road licences.
The Transport Authority’s customer care representatives are contacting applicants whose road licence applications have been considered.
Following the announcement of the General Elections in February 2016, the Transport Authority was unable to process new road licences due to the absence of the Licensing Committee to consider the applications. The last meeting of the dissolved Licensing Committee was held on February 11, 2016.
