Trident hotel without power after Friday afternoon fire
PORT ANTONIO, Portland – Owner and CEO of the Geejam Collection Jon Baker says operations are returning to normal this afternoon following a fire at the hotel earlier today. The hotel is now without power.
Baker said: “The fire was reported quickly and no one was hurt. We are still working to ensure everything is in place after the fire which we believe started in one of the electrical panels. There was no major damage.” The Port Antonio Fire Brigade responded with a unit to control the fire.
Baker also said that during the ordeal of the fire, members of staff were able to move and secure furniture and other items.
“We moved a lot of our furniture that could have been damaged especially by smoke away from danger.” Baker also commended the hotel staff, noting that they did an incredible job during the fire.
“It may take one to two days to get all systems working after the clean-up operations are completed. He said “guests who were at the hotel will be relocated to the other GeenJam properties.”
