Two American women held with cocaine at NMIA
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Two American women were today taken into police custody following the seizure of more than six pounds of cocaine at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
They are 30-year-old Lezonn Garvins and 28-year-old Damary Smoot, both of an Ohio, United States of America address.
The police say both Americans were arrested and charged with possession of, dealing in and attempting to export cocaine.
Reports are that about 12:30 pm, Garvins and Smoot checked in to board a flight destined for Florida. Upon reaching the pre-board screening area, both were interviewed and searched by the police when it was discovered that they had handbags with false compartments in both sides containing cocaine totalling six and a half pounds.
Garvins and Smoot are both scheduled to appear in the St James Parish Court on August 31.
