KINGSTON, Jamaica — After months of ups and downs, former national assistant coach and Under-20 head coach Donovan Duckie, has been fired as head coach of Waterhouse football club.

Duckie, who took over the coaching reigns last season, confirmed to the Jamaica Observer this afternoon that he received a letter from the club’s president Ricky Chin stating his dismissal.

“I am always saying I am unhappy. He wants me to play pure little boys. He doesn’t business about my career. He doesn’t care about trophies, he doesn’t care about the Waterhouse people,” said Duckie.

“He gave me the letter of termination and I took it and smile, cause I am fed up long time. Guess what, he wanted to style me. He fired me and wanted me to keep it down, or say I resign, because guess what, he has no reason to fire me,” Duckie explained.

Efforts to reach president Chin for a comment proved futile, as calls to his cellular phone this afternoon all went unanswered.

Waterhouse are currently seventh in the 12-team premier league on 32 points, just five adrift of second placed Portmore United but 13 behind leaders Harbour View on 45 points.

Duckie is adamant that the club’s performance could not be the cause for his dismissal, adding that no reason was forthcoming from the president.

“He didn’t put any reason. Five points off second place in the premier league with one and a half round to go. The club not doing badly, he couldn’t put a reason,” said Duckie.

Earlier in the season Duckie was missing off the bench, apparently for health reasons, but today he revealed the truth saying that there was a huge difference in policy.

“A sell him want to sell players. We have two different objectives. He just want to sell players what about the short term goal. What about the players and the people of Waterhouse. What about my career. What about cups coming to the community. That is of least importance to him,” said Duckie.

“He doesn’t feel like I am playing enough youth so we have a falling out. There is nothing to say I am doing bad. One win and we jump back into third. Is not like am failing. We just not seeing eye to eye,” he insisted.
