Western Union re-opens all St James branches

Tuesday, August 28, 2012 | 2:10 PM

MONTEGO BAY, St James — Western Union has now re-opened all of its locations that were closed in St James.

Eight locations were re-opened two weeks ago and the remaining four were re-opened this morning.

Grace Kennedy Money Services, the franchise holder for Western Union in Jamaica, closed its outlets in St James two weeks ago as they implemented new security measures in light of lotto scam operations in the parish.

Sponsorship and Communications Manager at Western Union, Patria- Kaye Aarons, says the entity is confident that the new measures will be effective.

The measures include new pay-out restrictions and a limit of $400 US has been put on money transfers to and from St James.

Customers are also now required to provide two forms of identification for collecting remittances.
