Wisynco issues recall of selected General Mills flour
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica – The Wisynco Group Limited, local distributors of the General Mills product lines, has issued with immediate effect a voluntary product recall of Gold Medal flour products.
According to a release from the company this afternoon, this recall comes as a result of the 10 million pounds of flour recall because of a possible E Coli link in General Mills on May 31.
Wisynco said that the products are being recalled out of an abundance of caution, as these products entered the Jamaica market from December 2015.
For consumer and public reference, the products being recalled are:
GML10720 Gold Medal All Purpose Flour .9kg EXPIRY CODE 27MAY7KC;
GML10730 Gold Medal Self Rising Flour .9kg EXPIRY CODE 23AUG6KC; and
GML12610 Gold Medal All Purpose Flour 2.3kg EXPIRY CODE 29MAY7KC
Wisynco added that only these products are affected by this recall.
The food distribution company said that, to date, there has been no trace of E Coli found in any General Mills flour products or in the flour manufacturing facility; and the company has not been contacted directly by any consumer reporting confirmed illnesses related to these products.
Wisynco is however reminding consumers that they are not to consume any raw products made with the described flour and to wash their hands, work surfaces, and utensils thoroughly after contact with raw dough products or flour, and to never eat raw dough or batter.
“Consumers who have any of these products with the codes listed, are being asked not to consume the product(s) and to return them to the point of purchase for a full cash refund and we are asking all persons to cooperate and help us to clear their cupboards and pantries of the products cited,” Wisynco trade marketing manager Karen Rosen said.
