Woman bites man on lips during fight
A Kingston bartender who bit a man on his lips during a fight at her workplace is to return to court for sentencing on September 25.
Opal Kelly pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding when she appeared before Parish Judge Sanchia Burrell in court last Thursday.
According to the complainant, she was at a bar where she worked when the complainant, who she said was drunk, came there behaving boisterously.
The complainant said the accused, during his antics, stepped on her big toe, causing injury to the nail. As a result, she told him to leave the bar, but he instead attacked her and held onto her hair and throat, and the only thing she could do was to bite him on his lips.
“I did it, but I did it in self-defence as I was at my workplace minding my own business,” Kelly told the judge.
The complainant was, however, absent and as a result the judge scheduled the sentencing for September 25, while noting that she wanted to hear from the complainant.
A social enquiry report was also requested and Kelly’s bail was extended.
