Woman escapes injury as stone shatters car window
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A motorist narrowly escaped serious injury Monday morning in a freak accident along the Washington Boulevard in St Andrew.
The motorist was travelling along the busy thoroughfare when a stone, sent flying from a ‘weed-whacker’ shattered the window on the driver’s side of her Nissan Bluebird motorcar.
The ‘weed whacker’ operator, employed by the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), was using the instrument to cut overgrown vegetation from the median.
“I was travelling along the road and upon reaching the stop light I heard a loud crash,” the distraught woman was heard saying.
The impact sent splinters flying inside the car but left the driver relatively unscathed.
