Entertainment out West

Miss Hopewell Summer Queen 2001 tonight

SEVEN beautiful girls from Hanover will tonight vie for the ‘Miss Hopewell Summer Queen 2001’ title at the Round Hill Sports Club in Hanover.

The show, which is being staged by the Hopewell Progressive Foundation, gets under way at 8:00 pm and promises to be full of fun and excitement.

The queen will walk away with a cash prize of $10,000 as well as gift baskets while the first runner up will receive $5,000 and third place gets $3,000. Entertainers Snoopy D, Jaddy D and Singing Scarvy will add flavour to the show.

Free Paper Bun Fete tomorrow

THE long summer holiday has almost come to an end and Le’ Koo Koo and Sample Rage promotions want to end the holiday on a high.

Tomorrow they will be staging a charity fair and fun day at Pier One in Montego Bay, starting at 10:00 am.

According to public relations officer, Vernal Campbell, the day’s activities will include bounce-about, games and many giveaways to the ‘schoolers’.

He added that refreshments and food will be made available free of cost to the students.

Admission is $100 for adults while children pay $50.

Gate proceeds will go towards assisting the Corinaldi Primary School, Granville All Age School, and the Glendevon Junior High School.

‘After Storm Party’ at the Brewery

THE threat of tropical storm Chantal put a damper on several planned entertainment activities across Western Jamaica last weekend.

One such event was last Saturday’s Summer Hype Party that was held at the Brewery Restaurant and Club, Montego Bay.

Assistant Manager at the Brewery, Colin Stewart, told Entertainment Out West that the show was not very well supported due to the threat of the tropical storm. But he says tonight patrons will get another chance to party and have fun at the entertainment spot with the staging of the ‘After Storm Party’.

Music will be provided by King Midas disco.

The fun starts at 9:00 pm.

Big Cash Bingo for Caribbean Showplace

AND tomorrow night The Caribbean Showplace at Ironshore, along Montego Bay’s outskirts, will once again stage its big cash bingo. Games begin at 7:00 pm.

As a result of the success of the previous bingo parties, the management of the entertainment facility has decided to dedicate the last Sunday in each month to bingo.

Tomorrow night, more than $100,000 will be up for grabs; but apart from the cash prizes patrons will also get a chance to win TV’s, VCR’s, and small appliances.

Admission is $300.

Old Clothes Party

SINCE its reopening earlier this year the Coral Cliff Hotel in Montego Bay has been staging a wide variety of entertainment packages in an effort to satisfy the entertainment needs of the general public.

Another such event takes place next Wednesday, in the form of an ‘Old Clothes Party’.

The entertainment package includes vocalist Melvin Williams and the TAP dancers backed by the Impulse Band.

Show time is 10:00 pm and the best old outfit will receive $5,000.

Until next week, go out and have some fun.
