Golding congratulates Gaston Browne on general election victory in Antigua
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s Opposition Leader Mark Golding has extended congratulations to Gaston Browne following his victory in Antigua and Barbuda’s general election, as preliminary results confirm a win for the ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP).
“I extend warm congratulations to Prime Minister Gaston Browne and the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party on securing a fourth term in office,” Golding said in a statement posted on X.
“Prime Minister Browne’s return to office since first assuming leadership in 2014 reflects the continued confidence placed in him by the people of Antigua and Barbuda. I look forward to working together in the near future. I wish Prime Minister Browne and his government success as they begin this new mandate,” Golding added.
Browne’s ABLP secured 15 of the 17 seats contested, a significant expansion of the party’s narrow 9–7 victory in the January 2023 polls.

The main opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) retained just one seat, held by its leader Jamale Pringle. In Barbuda, Trevor Walker of the Barbuda People’s Movement held his seat.
Browne’s latest victory makes him the first prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda to win four consecutive general elections.
