OCHO RIOS, St Ann — A team from JAZZ-FM will today wrap up its week-long broadcast in Jamaica, during which it featured some of the island’s prime resort properties.

Based in Yorkshire, England, JAZZ-FM is said to be very popular with professionals and the business community especially in South East London and Manchester, two of the most populated areas in the UK, and also attracts millions of other listeners across Europe through the Internet and its involvement with ABC syndicated radio.

The series of live broadcasts, which was made possible with the assistance of the Jamaica Tourist Board, began at the SuperClubs Grand Lido Sans Souci Resort on Monday.

The four-hour shows began at 5:00 am each day with interviews and discussions with a wide cross section of Jamaicans, including hoteliers, entertainers and tourism officials.

After two days of broadcasting from Grand Lido Sans Souci, the radio team moved to Firefly attraction in St Mary on Wednesday then onto the Sandals Negril on Thursday.

Chris Tim Jibsom, managing director of International Broadcasting (UK) Limited, who is co-ordinated the radio remote on behalf of the Jamaica Tourist Board, said the success of their trip to Jamaica can result in a significant amount in tourism earnings for the island.

“We attract the professional people, the well-off people between the ages 25 to 44 years, who drive the Benz and the BMWs and these are the kind of people who will come to the Caribbean for a holiday,” Jibsom said.

He added: “We feel Jamaica, as a tourist attraction, is a wonderful place to visit and that many people in the UK do not know how wonderful an attraction it is.”

JAZZ FM’s disc jockey, Charles Nove, and his producer, Rosie Kendricks, both expressed a feeling of joy to be in the island.
