Training for farm workers at Jamaica Producers
The Jamaica Producers Group recently launched its employee education and training programme, which will be targeting employees on its farms. The programme will be undertaken in association with JAMAL, with assistance from the European Union. Among the areas in which the workers will be trained are arithmetic, comprehension and life skills.
Jamaica Producers said the training will be two-pronged — through conventional classroom teaching and with the use of computers. Each participant will do five hours of training weekly — four in the classroom and one hour on the computer.
Here Patsy Kelly, director of public relations at the Jamaica Producers Group, Pearnel Charles (centre), of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union and JAMAL’s chairman, Lascelles Lewis, discuss the programme following the launch.
