PHONE RUSH
Karvan Cellular’s offer of a connected Nokia 5125 cellular phone for a little over $1,000 drew a large crowd at their Market Street store in Montego Bay, Tuesday.
For most of the day, the police were kept very busy as they tried to control the boisterous crowd. According to one lawman, it took them an hour and the use of pepper spray, after arriving on the scene, to get the crowd under control and into one line.
The woman in the photo (sitting and wearing a white shirt) reportedly hurled indecent language at the lawmen and was eventually carted off in a police jeep, after putting up much resistance. The Observer was unable to ascertain if she was charged. (Photo: Mark Cummings)
