Deadline for Miss Jamaica World Cornwall extended
FRANCHISE holder of the Miss Jamaica World Cornwall beauty pageant, Lachu Ramchandani, has extended the deadline for women who want to enter this year’s contest.
Ramchandani told Entertainment Out West that females between the ages of 17 and 25 who reside in the county of Cornwall and are desirous of entering the contest will now have up to June 10 to do so.
The deadline was previously set for the end of May.
To date, approximately 40 girls have submitted applications. Elimination is set for June 14 at the Caribbean Showplace, Ironshore, while the coronation ceremony will be held at the same venue on July 14.
There are over $2-million worth of prizes to be won.
Summer Hype 2002 begins tonight
THE Brewery on Montego Bay’s Hip Strip, Gloucester Avenue, tonight kicks off its special summer promotion dubbed “Summer Hype Level One”.
The event features Kurt Riley from Fame FM who is no stranger to the Brewery.
The fun starts at 11:00 pm.
“Summer Hype 2002” continues on June 29, and will feature Black Chiney.
Big people muzik for Tropical Beach, Whitehouse
SOUL to Soul and Star Lord will headline the Big People Muzik event, scheduled for the Tropical Beach in Whitehouse, Montego Bay, tonight.
The show also features Donavon D’acres of Radio Two fame, Senor Daley and Prince Mikey.
Country duppy for MoBay Civic Centre
ASTON Cooke’s comedy “Country Duppy” opens next Friday at the Montego Bay Civic Centre, Sam Sharpe Square, under the distinguished patronage of the Custos of St James, Clarence Nelson.
Directed by Michael Nicholson, the play features Cheri Johnson, Mervin Whittingham, Nadia Carvalho, Vincent Bishop and Kenniel Earle.
The show will run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 8:30 pm from May 31-June 23.
