MoBay credit union awards scholarships
Shaniel Robinson (left) and O’Brien Clarke were on Tuesday presented with scholarships valued at $50,000 each by the Montego Bay Co-operative Credit Union (MCCU) at a ceremony held at the Day O Plantation in Montego Bay.
Over the past 10 years, the MCCU has been awarding two scholarships per year to needy students, in honour of Josiah Bayley-Hay who gave invaluable service to the credit union. The MCCU has awarded in excess of $800,000 in scholarship grants to 20 beneficiaries to date.
Speaking at the function, general manager at the MCCU, Ornell Bedasse, said the scholarships were the credit union’s way of giving back to the community and to assist in nation building.
“The credit union is putting its money where its mouth is, because we see the youths as the key in the development of the society,” he added.
