ID parade for suspect in Phang’s shooting
THE West Kingston police will this weekend hold an identification parade for a suspect held in connection with last Thursday night’s shooting of businessman and political activist George Phang.
The police also said Wednesday that they have the names, and are searching for two other suspects.
Phang, 47, manager of the Arnett Gardens Football Club, was shot at about 9:30 pm last Thursday, while playing dominoes with friends at the corner of Septimus and Thompson Streets in Jones Town. The shots were reportedly fired by the occupants of a white Toyota Corolla motor car, leaving Phang and two other domino players with shots all over their bodies.
Phang was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and was later said to be in critical but stable condition. The two other injured men were also admitted to hospital.
On Sunday, the police arrested a man at the Norman Manley International Airport, who was about to board an Air Jamaica flight for London, England. Alleged to be involved in the shooting, he remains in custody and his name is being withheld pending the upcoming identification parade.
No motive has yet been determined for the shooting.
