Tropical Cake Extravaganza 2003

THE Jamaica Association of Sugar Artist, in association with Western Hospitality Institute, will be hosting Jamaica Cake Show 2003 under the theme, “Tropical Cake Extravaganza,” scheduled for the Jamaica Grande Hotel from May 23 to 25, 2003, under the distinguished patronage of Betty-Jo Stienman founder and past president of the International Cake Exploration Societé and Jamaica’s own Dr Eve Palomino Lue.

The show, which promises to be a spectacular event will hope to enhance the cake decorating skills of students within tertiary and secondary schools, so they can have a better appreciation of the art and be more efficient in practicing the craft.

It is also hoped that through niche marketing, the extravaganza will attract and increase visitor arrivals to Jamaica.

International Cake Exploration Societé has over four thousand international members who attend an International convention held yearly across the USA, and a large contingent is expected to be at the Jamaica show.

Among the demonstrators and judges who will be attending the cake show: Kathy Scott – current president of the International Cake Exploration Societe, Rowland & Marsha Winbeckler – International Hall of Fame, master cake decorators, Susan Obyle Jacobson – chairman of the International Cake Exploration Societe, Herlan Pedrazza, Marco Antonio Lopez and featured guest, internationally -acclaimed cake lady, Francis Kuyper.

Kuyper owns the only cake museum in the world and has over 40 years’ experience in the art of cake decorating and played lead roles in many television commercials and talk shows. She has been in the business of decorating cakes since 1950 and is also a writer, demonstrator, instructor and consultant for many years in the retail baking industry. Her special ability in cake decorating has taken her to eight countries and to 47 of the 50 states.
