Air J suspends flights to Haiti, Dom Rep
AIR Jamaica has suspended service to Haiti and the Dominican Republic due to the escalation of the civil unrest in Haiti.
Flights 365 from Kingston to Port-au-Prince and Santo Domingo and 364 from Santo Domingo and Port-au-Prince to Kingston that were scheduled to operate on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday of this week and Wednesday and Thursday of next week will be affected, the national airline said in a statement yesterday.
Air Jamaica Express operates the flights to Haiti and the Dominican Republic on behalf of Air Jamaica, using a 37-seat Dash 8 aircraft.
The airline’s CEO, Christopher Zacca said “the safety of our passengers, crew and aircraft will always the number one priority” for the national airline.
Meanwhile, Zacca said the situation in Haiti was being evaluated on a daily basis and if it is safe enough, normal operations would resume on Saturday, March 6.
Passengers who were booked to fly on Air Jamaica to Haiti were asked to call 1-888-FLY-AIR-J for further information or to reschedule their flights.
