St James man wanted for murder
MONTEGO BAY, St James – The Area One police have launched a search for Glenroy “Bud” Smith, of Rose Heights in St James, who is wanted in connection with a February 3 double murder in Hanover.
The cops said that “Bud”, who is about 27 years old, has been linked to the shooting deaths of Andrieka James, 17, and 34 year-old taxi operator, Samuel Lawrence – both of Claremont in Hanover. James, a student of the Rusea’s High School, and Lawrence were killed at a stand-pipe in Kew.
The killers, who robbed the duo of their cellular phones, escaped in Lawrence’s motor car.
Area One crime chief, Superintendent John Morris, told the Observer that within a week of the murders, the stolen phones were recovered at a house occupied by Smith. He said the police had also recovered at the house, the rims and tyres belonging to Lawrence’s car, which was used in the getaway.
Meanwhile, lawmen have taken two other persons into custody in connection with the incident. Those two persons, who were picked up inside the Rose Heights community two weeks ago, are to face identification parades early next week.
“We think that we have sufficient evidence that points to the involvement of these persons in the murders,” Superintendent Morris said of the duo.
