Suspected murderer caught
Selvin Robinson has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and the murder of 35 year-old Phillip “Appleman” Blair, who was shot dead after an attempted robbery at a jewellery store along Hagley Park Road at about 5:00 pm Friday.
Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network’s metro officer are that Robinson and one of the store’s former employees – who had been in the store from 12 noon ostensibly to repair a ring – were asked to leave as it was closing time. Robinson pulled a gun while his crony began stealing store merchandise, said the police. Blair, a store employee, held onto Robinson and was shot during a struggle. Robinson’s crony escaped during the melee but cops, who were early on the scene, nabbed Robinson inside the store. A Sig Sauer semi automatic pistol was taken from him.
