Accused killers of alleged Bahamian drug lord

Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland – A Bahamian and two Jamaicans who have been charged with the murder of alleged Bahamian-born drug lord Shawn Isaacs have been booked to return to the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate’s Court on August 23 when the preliminary hearing will continue.

Charged are Sylvarus McQueen from Nassau, Bahamas, Dermid Daley from Retirement in Westmoreland, and Evon Williams from St Mary.

Isaacs was killed while at his home in Retirement, Westmoreland on February 17. According to police reports, the Bahamian was standing at his gate talking to a man when a burgundy car with three men on board pulled up. Shots were fired from the car and Isaacs, who was hit twice, died on the spot.

McQueen, Daley and Williams were subsequently arrested and charged with murder. Williams was granted $1-million bail and had it extended, while McQueen and Daley were remanded in custody.

The first of the three witnesses who appeared in court Tuesday said that Daley, accompanied by Williams, rented a 1999 burgundy Toyota Corolla from him. The witness said he did not know Williams before the day the transaction took place but was able to point him out in court.

The second witness told the court that he saw a man running away from the crime scene towards the burgundy car as he fired several shots from a gun. The witness pointed to the man in open court. The man was McQueen.

The third and final witness was the police officer who conducted the identification parade in which the three suspects participated at the Negril police station.
