Three Nannyville youth on ammo charge
THREE 18-year-old men were Thursday charged with illegal possession of ammunition following the seizure of 26 rounds of ammunition in Nannyville Gardens, Kingston.
Charged with illegal possession of ammunition are:
. Joel Barnett;
. Troy Hammond; and
. Germaine Jones, all of Nannyville Gardens.
The police reported that about 2:30 pm, members of the Special Anti-Crime Task Force found the ammunition after searching a house where the three were seen sitting on the verandah.
. Five for gun seized in Barbican
FIVE persons were arrested following the seizure of an illegal gun at Barbican Road, Kingston 6 yesterday morning.
Facing charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are Damian Peter Simpson, 24, Odette Harris, 24, Collina Harris, 18, Michael Harris, 45, and 19 year-old Andrew Gordon, all of Barbican Road in Kingston.
Members of a police party carried out an operation in the Barbican Road area where several premises were searched and a 9mm Bryco pistol with 11 rounds of ammunition was found at one of the houses, the Constabulary Communication Network said.
The five persons who were at the house were arrested and charged.
Farmer found dead at Coffee Ground
THE decomposing body of a 64 year-old farmer Kenneth Malcolm was found by neighbours at his home in Coffee Ground district, Westmoreland, yesterday.
The Savanna-la-Mar police, who are investigating, are awaiting the result of a post mortem to determine the cause of death.
Man falls into swimming pool, dies
Thirty-six year old businessman Valen Mignott of Toroda Drive, Coral Gardens, St James was found dead in his swimming pool yesterday.
The police said that at about 12:30 pm, Mignott was cleaning his swimming pool when he fell in. He got into difficulties and drowned. His body was removed to the morgue for post mortem examination.
Shopkeeper shot dead on Waltham Park Road
A 51 year-old shopkeeper was shot dead and a 38 year-old man shot and injured by gunmen on Waltham Park Road, Kingston 13, on Thursday.
The dead man has been identified as Isaac Daley of Waltham Park Road.
According to the police, at about 4:45 pm on Thursday explosions were heard in the vicinity of the Chinese cemetery. Daley and the other man were found suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital where Daley died while undergoing treatment and the other man admitted in stable condition.
Cabbie shot and killed in August Town
A 29 year-old taxi operator, Abdul Northover of Gordon Town Road, Kingston 6, was shot dead at Bryce Hill Road, August Town on Thursday evening.
The shooting took place at about 7:45 pm.
Man found hanging at Belvedere Road home
The Red Hills Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 30 year-old man who was found hanging by a length of rope at his home at Belvedere Road, Kingston 19, Thursday night.
Police said the man, Everton Forbes, and his common-law wife were involved in an argument at about 7:30 pm and he threatened to kill himself.
His body was found hanging by a length of rope from a beam in the ceiling of his bedroom about two hours later.
