Youngsters to clean up Negril today
TWO hundred young volunteers will today clean up sections of Negril that were badly affected by Hurricane Ivan a month ago under a programme called ‘Volunteer and Share’.
The project is a collaborative effort of the Office of National Reconstruction (ONR), the Jamaica Combined Cadet Force, the National Youth Service (NYS), and the Negril Chamber of Commerce.
The group will also be working closely with the Mayor of Savanna-la-Mar Delford Morgan and his deputy Dertel Moore.
Communications liaison at the ONR, Tracey Hamilton told JIS News that the clean-up project, which is expected to get underway at 6:00 am, would see work being carried out on the Norman Manley Boulevard, the beach front and eastern and western sections of the Negril roundabout.
Hamilton said that members of youth clubs and service clubs in that region are being requested to come out and assist in the effort.
