MONTEGO BAY, St James – Monday’s heavy rains were no deterrent to the hundreds of patrons who turned out to the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex to enjoy the annual Jamaica 4-H food festival Nyammins and Jammins on Heroes’ Day.

Although many of the artistes slated to appear at the festival did not show up because of the weather patrons stood for hours on the murky show grounds, armed with their umbrellas, to enjoy the offerings that were available.

“I think it was a success despite the inclement weather and despite the none-appearances. We really want to apologise to our patrons, many of whom braved the weather they were particular keen on seeing Christopher and Noddy (from the Rising Stars contest). We had confirmed bookings with all of them but they just could not make it,” said co-ordinator Marlene Stephenson-Dalley.

There was, in the interim, no shortage of food at the many booths erected on the grounds. Patrons also enjoyed an entertainment treat from those artistes who did make the event.

Gospel singer Sashoi Hinds delighted her fans as she performed songs like We lift our Hands in the Sanctuary and Our God is an Awesome God. Fab 5, who did an extended set, also left the crowd satisfied while Voise Mail, who did a tight set, thrilled the crowd with their “Wacky Dip”.

Leroy Sibbles who brought down the lid on the day’s proceedings gave a scintillating performance, opening his act with Come with me and ending with Fatty.
