House schedule
BOTH the House of Representatives and the Senate have busy schedules this week. The House meets on Tuesday and Wednesday at 2:00 pm, while the Senate will meet on Thursday and Friday at 10:00 am.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC), chaired by the Opposition spokesman on finance and public service Audley Shaw, will meet on Tuesday morning to look at concerns raised by the Auditor-General on the financial activities of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in 2003/2004.
The House of Representatives will look at three matters on Tuesday under Public Business:
. The Civil Service Establishment (General) Order Resolution 2005 – Fitz Jackson, Minister of State for Finance and Planning;
. An Act to Amend the Larceny Act (from the Senate) – Dr Peter Phillips, Minister of National Security; and
. Report of the Human Resource and Social Development Committee – Dr Donald Rhodd, Minister of State for Education, Youth and Culture.
On Tuesday the House of Representatives will debate under Public Business:
. Criminal Justice (Plea Negotiations & Plea Agreement) Act 2005 –
Dr Peter Phillips, Minister of National Security;
. Private Members Motion: National Policy for the Disabled
Sharon Hay-Webster (PNP, South-Central St Catherine).
On Thursday, the Senate will handle:
. An Act to Amend the Criminal Justice (Administration) Act: Fitness to Plead – AJ Nicholson, Minister of Justice and Attorney General;
. An Act to Amend the Legal Aid Act – Senator AJ Nicholson.
And on Friday:
. An Act to Provide for Notice to adduce Alibi Evidence – Senator AJ Nicholson.
