Gunmen kill woman, injure her two brothers
GUNMEN Thursday night invaded a tenement yard in Thompson Pen, Spanish Town, St Catherine, killing Dedrie Graham and injuring her two brothers, age 33 and 29, respectively.
“The gunmen demanded to see her brothers who were inside the house. She pleaded with them not to kill her brothers, and they turned their guns on her and opened fire,” said a police source at the Spanish Town Police Station.
The gunmen then shot and injured the brothers who, along with Graham were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital, where Graham died. Her brothers were admitted in stable condition.
No motive for the shooting was ascertained.
Sanitation worker shot dead at bus terminus
A 40 year-old sanitation worker was shot dead yesterday morning by a gunman at a bus terminus in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Police said he was identified as Clinton Jackson, who resided at Ellerslie Pen in Spanish Town.
According to the Constabulary Communication Network, Jackson was on his way to work at about 6:40 in the morning when he was confronted by a man armed with a gun in the bus park. The armed man, the police said, immediately opened fire, hitting Jackson. The injured man was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Repair to pipeline in the gorge to affect some supplies
NATIONAL Water Commission customers in some sections of St Catherine and the Corporate Area will experience low water pressure or have no water between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm tomorrow.
“This is to facilitate repairs to a broken 24-inch pipeline located in the Bog Walk Gorge,” the commission said yesterday.
Areas to be affected include:
. Sections of Portmore;
. Hellshire;
. Sections of Spanish Town;
. Eltham Acres;
. Eltham Park;
. Elthan Vista;
. Spanish Town Road; and
. Marcus Garvey Drive.
