Anthony, Brown told the Observer, had been employed to the Jamaica Public Service since mid 2003, and always found favour with those around him.
“Him so jovial and nice, everybody who know him love deh round him, because him mek people laugh,” Brown said.
Meanwhile, the JPS, in a statement, expressed regrets to the family of Umroy Anthony, who it said was a disconnector contractor.
According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), about 12:15 pm Thursday Anthony went to a premises in St Andrew Park to disconnect electricity, when an argument developed between himself and a man.
“Shortly afterwards explosions were heard, and minutes later Anthony was found suffering from gunshot wounds.
“He was rushed to hospital, but succumbed to the injuries on arrival,” said the CCN.
