‘Mad’, armed and dangerous
THE Clarendon police say they are still searching for 24-year-old Alton Gordon who allegedly shot and injured three policemen at the Frankfield Police Station in the parish before escaping with one of the lawmen’s gun.
According to the police, at approximately 8:00 pm on Saturday, Gordon was in a holding cell at the Frankfield station awaiting transportation to the May Pen Police Station when he became boisterous. Officers went into the holding area to try to subdue him when Gordon allegedly managed to grab a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver from the holster of one of the officers.
The police reported that while the officers tried to retrieve the weapon from Gordon, the gun went off during a tussle and three of the policemen were hit. Gordon, said the police, managed to flee from the station with the firearm.
According to Constable Camay Watson, the Constabulary Communication Network’s liaison officer for Clarendon, one of the officers was treated and released while the other two were yesterday still in hospital in a stable condition.
