Cop convicted for 2006 abduction of 17-y-o girl
CONSTABLE Dwayne Whyte, who was charged in May of 2006 for abduction, illegal possession of firearm and assault with intent to rape, was yesterday found guilty on all three charges.
The policeman was remanded in custody and was booked to reappear for sentencing on November 14.
Constable Whyte, according to the police, abducted a 17-year-old girl, while driving a tinted unmarked service vehicle, and sexually assaulted her. She managed to escape and was assisted by a passing motorist.
The incident was later reported to the Internal Affairs/Anti-Corruption Division, now the Anti-Corruption Branch.
The matter was investigated and the policeman arrested, charged and taken before the court where he was convicted yesterday.
