Domestic cricket will resume in St James after an absence of several years with three games set to be played on Saturday.

Eight teams will take part in the competition, which is yet to be sponsored.

Games set for Saturday are – Montego Bay Cricket Club vs Overton at Jarrett Park; Cambridge hosting Riahs at Cambridge and Orange taking on Granville at Orange.

The other two teams taking part are Farm Heights and Roehampton who will make their entry next week.

The season got underway on Sunday with a St James Cricket association team beating Orange Sports Club by two wickets in a 40 overs per side game despite a century, 132 from Vinroy Crooks.

Orange made 242 all out off 32 overs while the St James team raced to 244 for eight off 34 overs.

Crooks smashed his ton off just 109 balls while Evroy Dwyer hit 32 against Abe Ainsley’s three for 34 from four overs.

Gary Campbell also got three wickets while Arnett Reid took two.

After losing two quick wickets for nine runs in their reply, Samuels Evans and Ryan Reid steadied the inning with a 90 run fifth wicket partnership as they cruised to the win.
