According to the police, last year in April, Ancine who was driving a white Toyota Corolla motor car along the Bulls Bay, Hanover, main road, offered an 11-year-old female primary student a lift. She accepted, but instead of dropping her off at home, he drove past her house to a playfield in the community where he forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
Later that same month, the suspect allegedly repeated the crime at the same location after which he gave the student $500 and ordered her not to talk.
A tight-lipped Steadman Henry, principal of the Cove Primary School, refused to comment on the issue.
However, Colin Blair, director of communications at the ministry of education confirmed that Ansine taught at the facility from 2001 until May 2008, when he sent in his resignation.
And Doran Dixon, president of Jamaica Teacher’s Association (JTA), told the Observer West that he was saddened by the report.
The fact that a teacher was identified as the perpetrator has saddened us, but at the same time we are not casting any judgements.
We condemn it in the strongest language and we don’t condone or sympathise with anyone involved in such heinous acts. Children are our most precious commodities and we must protect them,” he said adding that the law was adequate to deal with perpetrators.
Meanwhile, Constable Rohan Reid, CCN liaison officer is making a strong appeal to any member of the public with knowledge of the wherabouts of any of the men, to get in touch with the Lucea police.
“I am making a appeal for anyone with information to come foward or call me the Lucea police at 956-2304 or 956-2333,” Constable Reid said.
