Emily Calburt’s secret
Three score and ten, it is said, we are promised.
However, Emily Calburt of Riverside in Hanover has managed to better that by some thirty odd years.
Her secret?
“Trust in God, get good rest and no night dew,” she told the Observer West.
Born in 1906 Emily Calburt has three children one now deceased. She has twenty-three grandchildren, seventy-two great grandchildren, seventy-four great great grandchildren,and five great great great grandchildren. Her husband of 58 years passed on about three years ago.
Come July 1, the Hibiscus Youth Club family of Riverside and the Kingsvale CDC – which recently paid her a courtesy call and presented her with gifts and a citation – will officially celebrate her 103rd birthday.
