Five Munro students hurt in school bus spill
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth – The school fraternity in St Elizabeth had a shock yesterday when a bus taking students home from the all-boys’ Munro College overturned on the Malvern main road.
Headmaster of Munro, Branford Gayle, told the Observer by telephone yesterday afternoon that five boys had been sent to hospital for what he described as “precautionary checks”.
Asked whether any of the boys had been seriously hurt, Gayle said, “I don’t think so.”
The dedicated school bus, which traverses the steep and winding 14-mile route to and from Munro to Santa Cruz on a daily basis, overturned sometime after 2:00 pm on a bend referred to by locals as Tomlinson’s Corner – about a mile east of the sleepy town of Malvern.
