Jay Will directs Flexxx’s new video; premieres tonight at Kno Limit
DEEJAY on the rise, Flexxx, will host his video launch and after party tonight (December 3) at Kno Limit Sports Bar, 1 Hillview Avenue, Kingston.
This single, entitled Fresh, showcases Flexxx’s versatility as an artiste and, in order to get what they feel will be the best treatment for the video, his team reached for experienced video director Jason ‘Jay Will’ Williams. Williams, who is highly sought after, has several big name clients to his credit, including Shaggy and Mr Vegas and is the recipient of several awards for his directing skills.
Fresh has been receiving rave reviews, both locally and internationally, since its release, the artiste said. It is currently available in EP on iTunes. The single and video are to be distributed by Halipos Entertainment.
Born Omar Henry, Flexxx (who spells his name with a triple ‘x’) adopted the moniker Mr Evil Konevil. An affable deejay, he is considered one of Jamaica’s fastest rising new artistes with some edgy, flashy but yet catchy rhymes. A protégé and close friend of dancehall’s bad boy Mavado, Flexxx is also a member of the Bounty Killer-led Alliance. He has demonstrated to his fans and peers within the dancehall fraternity that he is a focused artiste and songwriter.
“I really love the direction my career is moving right now,” he told the Observer in a recent interview. “It’s like all the hard work is finally beginning to pay off. It was back in the days that my bredrens and I linked up and formed a crew called Mafidi. At that time Mavado was the singer in the group,” he recalled. “We always had big dreams and had the faith and the belief that we would make it … because the talent is there,” Flexx declared.
Among the special guests at tonight’s video launch will be Bounty Killer, Mavado, Bling Dawg, G-Whizz, Stacious, Einstein, Assailant, Kibaki, Iyara, Anarchie, Jah Vision and Not Nice.
Flexxx, who represents the Alliance’s Gully Squad, is managed by Hapilos Entertainment, a New Yorkbased company which is presently partnering with Alliance Entertainment. Hapilos is also part of the Brooklyn Music Festival and Connecticut Musical Festival which featured artiste such as The Temptations and Beres Hammond. They were also responsible for bringing the very popular play, Bashment
Granny, to the New York area.
