Is it a 9-iron to the face that is keeping Tiger out of circulation?
Respected voice: Sports writer Furman Bisher, who has covered every Kentucky Derby since 1950, made the claims on his blog.

Is it a 9-iron to the face that is keeping Tiger out of circulation?

The account, which is sweeping the Internet, includes claims that Woods, 33, underwent plastic surgery to cover up the injuries sustained when his wife Elin allegedly struck him in the face with a nine-iron golf club after a row over text messages.

It claims the blow fractured Woods’s cheekbone and almost knocked out his two front teeth, prompting the star to seek plastic surgery. It also claims that the facial injuries are the real reason Woods has not been seen in public since the November 27 incident outside his Florida home.

But last night there was growing speculation that 91-year-old journalist Furman Bisher had become the victim of an Internet hoax.

He claims to have been given the story by a trusted source but critics say there are contradictions in the story and that it has been circulating online for some time.

According to the story published on Bisher’s blog, Woods flew to Arizona for surgery and his absence from Florida was the reason police were unable to speak with him.

The account claims that Woods and his wife Elin argued after she found text messages from nightclub hostess Rachel Uchitel.

Bisher said the information came from a colleague of the golf star’s agent, Mark Steinberg.

Kylie Minogue gets to know her boyfriend’s sisters

Spending the first Christmas with the prospective in-laws couldn’t have been easy.

But Kylie Minogue seems to be getting on famously with boyfriend Andrés Velencoso Segura’s family over the festive period.

After the couple jetted into Spain on Christmas Eve to be with his family, the pint-size popstar spent quality time with his sisters. The three ladies have been spending time together during Kylie’s stay with the family of her current beau.

Minogue, 41, and the sisters, Sonia and Silvia, were pictured taking a stroll in Tossa del Mar, on the Costa Brava, near Barcelona Monday.

And they appeared to be getting on well, with seemingly no problems in communication between the potential in-laws.

Dressed-down Christina Ricci puckers up

He has not been seen on Christina Ricci’s arm for some months, but Curtis Buchanan is still very much in the frame.

The actress was spotted in a public display of affection with her tattooed photographer boyfriend in a car park in Los Angeles earlier this week.

The star, dressed down in a pale yellow cardigan with skinny jeans and Converse trainers, puckered up for a smooch with her boyfriend of five months.

Britney Spears dyes another day

Maybe blondes don’t actually have more fun. It would certainly go some way to explaining Britney Spears’s decision to ditch her trademark blonde locks for a much darker look.

Or perhaps it was an attempt by the mother of two to look slightly more mature for boyfriend Jason Trawick who, at age 38, is 10 years older than the singer.

Britney has reportedly already made two proposals to Trawick, but he has turned them down.

And clearly she is keen to make him her second official husband — the singer had one Vegas marriage annulled — and is perhaps hoping a more sophisticated look will help seal the deal.

Confrontation: Elin Nordegren hit husband Tiger Woods witha nine-iron, according to sports writer Furman Bisher.
