Mariah Carey’s tutu reveal a horribly familiar theme
What an entrance: Mariah Carey descended to the stage on a swing, wearing a huge tutu, at a concert at the Borgata in Atlantic City.

Mariah Carey’s tutu reveal a horribly familiar theme

Peop

It’s unlikely that the likes of glamour model Jordan have ever crossed into the rarefied world inhabited by diva Mariah Carey. So when Mariah’s stylist suggested a huge tutu, which she could strip off to reveal a glittering shift dress, it must have seemed like a novel idea.

Sadly for Mariah, her stage outfit last night bore more than a passing resemblance to Katie Price’s ill-fated wedding outfit. The singer descended to the stage in an over-the-top fairytale white gown at the Borgata in Atlantic City.

This was soon removed to reveal a jewel-encrusted shift dress. When Jordan married Peter André in September 2005 her outfit was remarkably similar. But despite her love of bling, even Mariah didn’t go as far as Katie, who made her arrival in a jewel-encrusted carriage. Instead Mariah stuck to a flower-bedecked swing.

Gerard Butler packs some paunch

Only three years ago he was the hunky Spartan whose rippling torso caused an excitable frenzy among millions of women.

But Gerard Butler appears to have succumbed to the calorific excesses of the Christmas period and alarmingly piled on the pounds. Butler, 40, was snapped on the beach in Barbados enjoying a warm and sunny start to the New Year after spending the Christmas period skiing in Aspen and a cold New Year’s Eve in New York.

But long gone is the taut and toned abdomen he showed off with pride in the film 300, and in its place is a flabby paunch that hung over his swimming shorts. It was certainly a far cry from his role as muscular Spartan King Leonidas in 300, the film adaptation of the graphic novel, in which Gerard’s Leonidas goes to war against the Persians.

Kate Moss cracks a rare smile as she takes to the seas.

Clearly a bit of sunny weather and relaxation is doing wonders for Kate Moss.

The usually surly-looking model was spotted breaking into fits of giggles on Sunday as she took to the seas on a dinghy with friends.

Kate, who is holidaying with rocker boyfriend Jamie Hince in Phuket, Thailand, dressed in a casual LBD and a loose-fitting armless top for her nautical jaunt.

Earlier in the day the 35-year-old lazed on the beach with Hince, who’s a guitarist with The Kills.

Avatar takes $1bn to become the fourth biggest movie of all time… in less than three weeks

Just three weekends after it was released Avatar has sped past the $1billion mark at the worldwide box office, making it the fourth-biggest movie of all time.

James Cameron’s 3-D sci-fi epic has earned $1.02billion, powered by sales of $202 million during the New Year holiday weekend, distributor 20th Century Fox said.

The only movies ahead of it in the all-time list are Cameron’s own Titanic ($1.8billion), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ($1.12billion), and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest ($1.07billion).

Avatar is the tale of a disabled ex-Marine sent from Earth to infiltrate a race of 10-foot blue aliens and persuade them to let his employer mine their homeland for natural resources.

Avatar took Cameron a decade to make from planning through state-of-the-art special effects to the wage bill for the estimated 1,200 people who worked on it, which all contributed to 20th Century Fox’s enormous production costs.
