MAY PEN, Clarendon — Toll Gate emerged champions of the Clarendon leg of the INSPORTS All-Island community football championship after two extra-time goals gave them a 2-0 victory over Race Track in the final last Thursday at West Park Community Centre.

Javel Anderson and Wallzene Williams scored within five minutes of each other to hand Toll Gate a place in the national round of 16.

As incentives, Toll Gate received the parish trophy and join the other parish champions in the hunt for $500,000 which will go to the winners of the All-Island completion set to kick off in February.

Toll Gate were beating Race Track for the second time in the competition, as they met in the group stages, with Toll Gate being 2-1 winners.

Both teams looked almost identical after 90 minutes as they created numerous opportunities, but failed to convert.

Toll Gate, however, up their game in extra-time and scored two goals in five minutes to break the hearts of the Race Track supporters, who thought the game was heading for penalties with only eight minutes remaining.

Anderson bundled home in the 112th minute after Williams’ 20-yard free-kick had rebounded off the cross-bar.

Five minutes later, Williams got lucky as he unleashed a ferocious right-footer from just inside his own half that beat the Race Track goalie, who was off his line.
