Front-runners win again in Primary netball
DEFENDING champions St Patrick’s, along with St Benedict’s and Clan Carthy, registered big wins as the INSPORTS Kingston and St Andrew Primary Schoolgirls Netball League competition continued at the Leila Robinson Courts yesterday.
St Patrick’s, led by shooters Taveeki Williams and Dyanta Lee, crushed Franklyn Town, 35-0, to chalk up their third straight win from as many starts in Zone 1.
The defeat was Franklyn Town’s second from two games. The defending champions led 20-0 at half-time before increasing their score in the second period.
Meanwhile, last year’s beaten finalists St Benedict’s romped to a 33-0 over Chetolah Park after taking a 18-0 lead at half-time through shooters Shericka Smith and Monique Burke. It was the third defeat for the losers in three starts.
Shooters Sashalee Douglas and Khadijah Graham carried former champions Clan Carthy to a convincing 23-2 win over St Jude’s for their third win from as many outings. The winners led 11-1 at half-time, while it was the losers’ second loss from two matches.
Another former champion, August Town, led by shooters Sheverine Melbourne and Jodi-Ann Oakley, carried their team to a 19-3 win over St Andrew’s to chalk up their third win from three starts.
St Andrew’s were suffering their third straight defeat from three games. The winners led 9-0 at the break.
Many-time winners Mona made it two wins from two starts when they defeated Excelsior 15-6 after leading 10-0 at the interval through shooters Abbigale Malcolm and Tori-Ann Whyte. Excelsior were losing their first game in two starts.
Alpha also recorded their third win from as many games by beating St George’s, 14-6, after leading 10-2 at half-time. It was the second loss for St George’s from two games.
Port Royal made it three wins from three game with a narrow 7-4 win over Balmagie, who were losing their first game from two matches.
Mountain View picked up their first win from three game by defeating Half-Way-Tree, 12-3, after having a 5-0 lead at half-time. The losers were losing for the second time in two starts.
Rollington Town made it two wins from two games by beating Tavares Gardens in a close encounter, 10-9. Both teams were locked 4-4 at the interval.
George Headley also won their second game from two matches by edging past Harbour View, 7-6, while it was the losers’ first defeat in three games. The winners led 4-3 at half-time.
Lawrence Tavern defeated Rousseau 9-3 to pick up their first win from three games, while the loss was the first for the losers from two games.
St Francis and New Providence picked up their first point when they played to a 7-7 draw after both teams were locked 4-4 at half-time.
