SAGICOR Group as committed US$250,000 to the Red Cross Society and mobilised staff across the group to assist relief efforts for earthquake-ravaged Haiti.

The company, in a news release, also said it would match cash donations made by staff to the relief fund.

“We at Sagicor, like the rest of the world, are profoundly moved by the tragic events which the Haitian people are experiencing,” said Group President and CEO Dodridge Miller. “We want to ensure that our contribution will go directly to the Haitian people and we are currently assessing the appropriate mechanism through which this assistance will be delivered.”

Sagicor is among a host of local companies that have donated to Haiti which suffered heavy loss of life and damage to property and infrastructure when a magnitude-7 earthquake struck Port-au-Prince on January 12.

The company said it has also invited clients who wish to donate funds to the relief initiatives to do so through the Haiti Earthquake fund number 0210102640 at PanCaribbeanBank locations islandwide.

“Several clients have expressed a desire to assist, and as such an account has been established at PanCaribbeanBank,” said Tanya Miller, vice-president of marketing, Sagicor Group.
