H’Morrison meet Hydel in b-ball semis today
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Herbert Morrison High will be flying the flag for the Western Conference this afternoon when they take on Hydel in one semi-final of the ISSA/KFC high school basketball play-offs at the Montego Bay Cricket Club at 4:00 pm.
Last season’s beaten national finalists, the Dave Black-coached Herbert Morrison will be seeking to go one step further this year to become the first western school to win a national basketball title.
Today’s winner will face the winner of the other semi-final between Ardenne High and Belair School next Tuesday at the national stadium.
Herbert Morrison won both quarter-final games, edging Munro College 51-47 before blowing out St George’s College 68-48, both at the Cricket Club.
Herbert Morrison will be depending on centre Jervis Hamilton, who had double doubles in points and rebounds in both wins, point guard Jamoi Richards, as well as Kedar Clarke who came off the bench against Munro and could be used in that role again today.
