Jamaican TEENagers, through their love, passion and dedication to music, have recently been awarded the privilege of sharing their talent outside of the country.

On February 10th, members of the Immaculate Conception High School (ICHS) Symphony Orchestra, under the leadership of Steven Woodham, went to Grand Cayman to participate in the Cayman Arts Festival, a biennial grand arts showcase.

The event, which spanned February 5-13, saw performances in dance, song, classical music, drama, and even a stand-up comedy routine.

Each day’s performance was an intensifying build-up to the grand culminating performance of the ICHS Symphony Orchestra at the Youth2Youth grand finale concert. The ICHS Symphony Orchestra was joined by several extremely talented Caymanian wind players; young Elenor De’Melon, a talent violinist from the Immaculate Conception Preparatory school and Naomi Reitzin of Campion College, who was accompanied by the ICHS chamber group.

The TEENagers performed for an audience, who sat on the edges of their seats, for almost the entire night. The arrangement of their repertoire was excellent. It had the right balance of quick and lively pieces interspersed with slow yet moving ones. This was the cause of much excitement for the audience.

The event ended with a shower of praise and applause for the night’s performers, who are still collecting rave reviews from their newly acquired fans.
